creating textures on photoshop

wood

first of choose 2 colours that you whant the wood to be in. for instants if you whant to create mahogany then use 2 redish toned colours.

then the next step is to go to fillter, render and then fibres. this will leave you with the picture to the left.

you can then liquify  it to make knots in the wood

stone

to create a stone texture you have to first of again chose the colours that you would want it to be in.
then afterwords go to filter render then clouds

then after go to the channels menu and add a new layer.  then do what you did to your original layer but on this layer so go to filter, render clouds. once this is done turn off the alpha layer and turn on                     the rgb layer.

then go to layers not channels and use fillter, render , lighting affects. change the spot light opption to directional and then play around with the line in the left box to make it brighter and darker.
and set texture to alpha 1

you will then end up with a texture that look like stone

steal
this time you dont need to to choose any colours. the first step is to go to fillter, and noise then after go to filter, blur, then motion blur then you will end up with a brushed steal look.
if you go to the chanels and add a new layer and draw on it with white. you can then do the same as you did to make stone by adding a lighting effect and this makes it look like a dent in the metal

watter

first of chose the colours that you whant the water to be in then use filter render, clouds
then ad a new layyer and do the same.
once this is done go to filter sketch then chrome. go to the top layer and chamnge the bledsing options to what ever you think looks the best.
